SAP HR UK Payroll: Real Time Information for HMRC. Real Time Information (RTI) is being introduced by HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs) to improve the operation of PAYE. It will make the PAYE system easier to operate.
What RTI means to employers?
RTI reporting will become an integral part of an employer’s normal payroll activity. When employers run their payroll SAP HR will gather the information required and send it to HMRC. This will be done using the internet through the Government Gateway or by using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) on or before the date payment is made. There will be transitional costs of introducing RTI
Timelines for the introduction of RTI
HMRC will pilot the RTI, with volunteer software developers (SAP is one of them) and employers for a year, starting in April 2012. HMRC and Newcastle University are two of the five pilot customers and have gone live already April 2012. Our new colleague Philip Thileepan was the SAP Functional Lead for one of the pilot customer (HMRC) and worked closely with SAP and HMRC for the successful Go-live of RTI pilot.
All other employers and pension providers will begin to use the RTI service in the period April 2013 to October 2013. All employers will be using the RTI service by October 2013. Setting in up in your SAP system requires some activities on the HR-PY side as well as in the PI/XI side.
