Some things make me angry – and ripping of customers by dramatically over-resourcing projects is one of them. This post is referring to HR cloud projects, but similar problems can be observed in SAP HCM on-premise projects as well.
I recently received yet another email from a recruitment agency looking for resources to staff a Successfactors HCM implementation project. Yet again, it was clear that this project would be dramatically over-resourced, because service providers try to sell the same quantities they are used to selling for on-premise SAP HCM projects. It always drove me angry to see the over-resourcing of on-premise projects driven by agencies and large System Integrators, but it’s even worse in cloud projects, where this behaviour defeats the whole purpose of a cloud strategy.
On that day, I just got too angry to stay away from the keyboard, so went for a rant on my SCN blog (SAP Community Network). Ken Murphy from SAP Insider read it and asked me for a quick interview on this topic. We had a really nice chat and you can listen to the core part of the interview (10 min) or read the transcript here on the SAP Insider Website. I recommend to read the post on the SCN first – it shouldn’t take more than 2 minutes.
